This is a very sensitive portrait of a loving relationship between a son and his mother who is dying of pancreatic cancer. Mary Anne Schwalbe was a vibrant, energetic and loving mother and gran-mother. She had many friends and loved talking to everyone, and was an avid reader. She was also an extraordinary career woman and humanitarian. In her last years of life, this indomitable woman and her son, Will, formed a two-person book club and would spend their time together, as they were waiting for the chemotherapy treatments to start, reading and discussing books. Throughout her life Mary Anne never lost her courage in the face of adversity and her unfailing hope for humanity stayed constant. A must read.
